Our Backroads Bikeways routes provide twelve self-guided tours on paved area roads, with lengths from 5 to 60 miles. The routes follow secondary routes over rushing streams and through picturesque rolling hills, patchwork farmland and beautiful meadows, parks and forests. View area attractions such as the New Buffalo Railroad Museum on the Union Pier Trail and Lake Michigan Trails. Enjoy a walk through Warren Woods or a swim in Lake Michigan at Warren Woods State Park on the Warren Dunes and Grand Mere Trails.

A new brochure is available with the 9th Edition of the Backroad Bikeway tours, and information on the Outback Trail tours. All twelve Backroad Bikeway self-guided tours are listed; a map and a list of directions and roads is provided for each tour.
The brochure also has information on bicycle rentals, the Three Oaks Spokes bicycle club, and the Apple Cider Century.
The brochure can be purchased at the Dewey Cannon Trading Company. To defray pubishing costs, there is a charge of 25 cents per brochure. Our shortest ride takes you on a brief tour of the countryside.
This short trail offers lakes, streams, pastures, orchids and woodlands.
This short route offers a challenge of a large hill to climb, and when you reach the top, you'll find a "resting place" (a shelter with picnic tables) at Posey Hill Chapel.
A trail for the easy riders, a relaxing and carefree journey over flat quiet country roads. A Warren Woods State Forest turnout offers restrooms, and a quiet setting for a family picnic.
A trail designed for the casual cyclist, a must for the naturalist. A favorite resting place is Warren Woods State Forest, a virgin forest with over 100 species of plants and trees.
Take the direct route to New Buffalo and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Enjoy the dining and shopping options in New Buffalo. Enjoy the cool breezes off the lake on a hot summer day. In Harbert, the St. Julian winery tasting room lets you sample their locally-produced wines.
Another ride for nature lovers, this trail will take you to the Spicer Lake Nature Preserve, offering a wetlands bordwalk, birding, trails, as well as restroom facilities and water.Lake Michigan Trail - 30 Miles
Enjoy the day, pausing to walk the sandy beaches, climb the rolling sand dunes, and wade into the cool waters of Lake Michigan. The New Buffalo Railroad Museum (530 S. Whittaker; phone: (269) 469-3166) offers historical railroad displays.
Pedal through the peaceful, rustic villages of New Troy, Baroda, Stevensville, Bridgman, and Sawyer. Taste the award-winning wines of Tabor Hill Winery. Climb the famous "Tower Hill" sand dunes, picnic, swim and camp at Warren Dunes State Park.Journey over shady wooded backroads and small rolling hills through flowered meadows and patchwork farmland. Relax beside a clear, rushing trout stream and enjoy the smells, sound, and that "great to be alive" feeling that only nature and bicycling can offer.
This tour will show you a lot of the Sunset Coast countryside. Watch for the ostrich farm on Singer Lake Road! Take a rest at the parks along the way. If you're hungry, stop by the Pizza Hut in Stevensville. Shop for bikes & accessoryies at the Cycle Path, also in downtown Stevensville. Detour into Warren Dunes State Park for a relaxing break from the riding.Fernwood Nature Trail - 60 Miles
Our longest and most challenging tour! Stop to smell (and see) the flowers at the Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve. Have lunch at the Fernwood Cafe (open from noon-3:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday; offering a selection of homemade soups and sandwiches and desserts for guests).
