Outback Trails

The Outback Trails are a series of six routes that travel secondary, dirt and gravel roads through Berrien County, Michigan and LaPorte County, Indiana. The terrain is hilly, challenging, and provides a good test of a rider's skill and stamina.

Riding the Outback Trails becomes an adventure as you discover what lies around a curve or over the next hill. Possibly you will spot a doe and her fawn, a soaring hawk, or a cattailed wetland.

During a hot spell, a canopy of trees creates a haven of shady relief, or after a heavy rain you may have to ride hub deep in mud or through a stream that has overflowed its banks. In the fall, the trails will be ablaze with fall colors. (The first two weeks of October are usually peak color season in this area.)

Note: The new printing of the Backroads Bikeways brochure does NOT HAVE maps or directions for the Outback Trails! If you are interested in riding these routes, it is strongly reccomended that you view and print the page(s) for the trail(s) you want to ride!
